Happy 7th Birthday Brooklyn!!!

Hockey Tournament in Waupaca

B didn't want to have a hockey tournament on her birthday, but she had bday luck and scored 5 goals...she played her best game ever! Her team had brownies and sang Happy Birthday to her in the locker room. Afterwards, she said she wanted to have a hockey tournament on her birthday every year! T played great as well...tons of goals and assists! Most exciting of all is that he won a basket in the basket raffle...4 tickets to a game in April!!! It will be the baseball fanatic's first MLB game!

Seasoned Travelers

Back to Wisconsin! Check out these two seasoned travelers. Nice view of the Rockies too.

Last California Night

After a long day at work, Dr's Uncle Mike and Aunt Emily prepared an outstanding meal for our final night in Sacramento. Brooklyn helped prepare the mashed potatoes while dad watched Uncle Mike prep the chicken.

After dinner Tyler and Brooklyn each read Matthew a bed time story. Thanks for a fantastic visit!!!

Sacramento Railroad Museum

For our last day in California we took Matthew with us to Old Sacramento and the Railroad Museum. Matthew was an excellent tour guide and made sure we didn't miss anything! We learned about the construction of the transcontinental railroad and how they had to build the tracks through the mountains. Also got to drive the new high speed train simulator and of course play with toy trains! On the way home, Tyler definitely felt like a big kid when the other two fell fast asleep :)

Wine Tasting and Sushi

Of course we had to do a quick wine tasting while in Sonoma! (Thanks Uncle Mike and Aunt Emily for supervising the hide and seek game at the park so mom and dad could go do this!). Wouldn't you know it that our server / wine expert was from Texas! After that we ordered take out from the local Sacramento sushi hot spot .. Both kids gave it a try! (Although I'm pretty sure Mac n cheese still holds the top spot 😉)

Train Town - Sonoma

After 8 years of watching "I Love Toy Trains" videos, we finally got to visit Train Town in Sonoma County, CA. We got to climb through cabooses, take a ride on a model train through the largest model train set we've ever seen (1/4 scale), and then ride the Ferris wheel, roller coaster and a few others.

Uncle Mike's Lab

While in Sacramento, Uncle Mike gave us a tour of his lab where he is studying asymmetric cell division in embryonic worm cells. He had special slides prepared for us so we could see his research in action! Definitely one of the highlights of the week!

Point Reyes National Seashore (1 of 3)

Day 3 was a trip to the rocky California coast at Point Reyes National Seashore. It was a day of spectacular views, sunshine, rain, multiple rainbows ( I think we counted 11!), elephant seals, and whale watching (or rather whale searching). We probably hiked 5 miles and climbed the equivalent of 30 stories of stairs, but it was well worth it.
