Sturgeon Spawning
Not sure how excited we all were this morning when Dad took us on a road trip to see the sturgeon spawning, but we had to admit it was pretty amazing! There were tons of them that swam 80ish miles to the Shawano Dam to lay their eggs. They looked like sharks. They come upstream and lay 400,000 to 1,000,000 eggs depending on their size. Many of the eggs end up as food for crawfish and other fish, and even the sturgeon eat them. 1 in 1,000 actually become a fish. Sturgeon were around when the dinosaurs lived!
